Oregon

Oregon became a state February 14, 1859. Oregon was acquired because a treaty was signed between the US and Britain to settle the boundary dispute.The first people to settle in Oregon were Native Americans. Great Britain, France, Russia, and Spanish claimed Oregon before the US. Great Britain gave up Oregon because they wanted to avoid war but they only gave half of it up. Oregon is historically famous for Crater Lake. It is the deepest lake in the US and is formed in the remains of an ancient volcano.
